As the popularity of the Brooklyn Bridge Promenade has grown so have the conflicts between bikers and walkers.  To resolve this conflict the city announced a plan to convert one lane of the Manhattan bound roadway into a protected bike line and the promenade as a dedicated walkway, as reported recently in AM New York: Mayor to give Brooklyn Bridge car lane to bikes.
