Where did you lead your first walk for Shorewalkers?

My first walk was “A Tree Grows in Brooklyn” on February 4, 2021. We started in Bay Ridge, walked through Sunset Park and ended in Industry City. It was my first walk co-leading with Sigrid Stropnik who trained me to be a hike leader. It had snowed a couple of inches the day before but we thought it would be clear by the water. As we walked down the steps at 79th and Shore Road, snow covered the stairs and when we reached the Shore Road Pathway, it was 3 inches or more. We continued our walk because everyone just wanted to be outside during the days of Covid. We ended in Industry City where we enjoyed drinks and hot cocoa by the outdoor fireplace. What a walk!!

What types of walks do you enjoy leading?

I like beach walks, through parks and of course, food walks. Food is art today!

I love the Brooklyn Greenway, I have walked sections, as well as the 20-mile stretch from Coney Island to Greenpoint.

Where can we find you when you’re not leading a walk?

I have been a volunteer for City Harvest the past 10 years. It is the largest food rescue agency in NYC, in operation since 1982. I’m very involved supporting their mission to fight hunger through food rescue and distribution.
