Roosevelt Island to Astoria Queens: Monuments to Murals

About 7 miles and 5 hours, moderate pace with stops to view sculpture, paintings, and murals. We'll take the Tram to Roosevelt Island, walk the island’s perimeter enjoying visits to Four Freedoms FDR Memorial on the southern tip, the Octagon Gallery on the northern end and Tom Otterness statues along the way.  (4 mile drop out point).
Then we'll cross the Roosevelt Island Bridge to Astoria and have lunch in Socrates Sculpture Park.  Pack a lunch or walk next door to the Costco snack bar.  After lunch we’ll continue along Vernon Blvd to the Welling Court Mural project and take-in some of the +130 works of street art.  Walk ends 1 mile later at Astoria's 30 Avenue station (N/W).
Meet 10:30 a.m. at the Roosevelt Island Tram at 59th Street and 2nd Ave. in Manhattan; take the 4,5,6 or N,R to 59th Street and Lexington and walk two blocks east. Tram departs at 10:37, it accepts Metro Cards  Or, take the F train to Roosevelt Island and walk to the tram station, one block south, and meet the group outside of the tram station.
