MAKE THE BATT TO BEAR TRAIL A NATIONAL TRAIL- Do you live in New York, Bergen, Rockland, or Orange County?

In an attempt to create a trail along the Hudson River, Shorewalkers developed the 56 mile Battery to Bear Mountain trail. The Batt to Bear trail starts at the south end of Manhattan in Battery Park and goes north along the Hudson, over the George Washington Bridge, to Bergen County. Then it proceeds along the Hudson shore into Rockland County and finally ends up at Bear Mountain in Orange County. This beautiful and scenic walkway passes through dozens of parks and historic landmarks.

To designate the Batt to Bear trail as a national trail we need our representatives to ask the National Park Service to do a study. Shorewalkers and friends who live in New York, Orange, Rockland, and Bergen counties can help by writing their congressman and asking them to have a study done.

For more information, check our website www.shorewalkers.org You’ll find more details and a four-color map of the trail.

Write your congressmen and walk the Batt to Bear trail yourself!

THANKS TO ALL hike leaders, directors, volunteers and donors for your continuing interest and support.  Thanks to Con Edison for its continuing support, as well as other past, present and future donors and supporters, such as Fraunces Tavern, and the Durst Organization. Thanks to the Hudson River Improvement Fund and the Hudson River Foundation for their support for the beautiful Great Saunter rack cards.
