Central Park, Modigliani and Roerich

About 6 miles, 5 hours, moderate pace.

We'll start at Columbus Circle, walk through Central Park to the Jewish Museum to see the "Modigliani Unmasked" exhibit, walk across Central Park to lunch at the Whole Foods on Columbus Avenue at 97th Street, then west to Riverside Drive and into Riverside Park and north to 107th Street to the Nicholas Roerich Museum. Admission to both museums is free. The Whole Foods has a large seating area and we have had no issues in the past when hikers bring in their own food.

"Modigliani Unmasked" considers the celebrated artist Amedeo Modigliani (Italian, 1884-1920) shortly after he arrived in Paris in 1906. Here is a link to the Modigliani Exhibit: http://thejewishmuseum.org/exhibitions/modigliani-unmasked

The Nicholas Roerich Museum exhibits 150 paintings by the Russian-born artist, philosopher and explorer (1874-1947) whose paintings "explore the mythic origins, the natural beauty, and the spiritual strivings of humanity and of the world." Meet: 10:30 a.m. inside the Time Warner Atrium at Columbus Circle. Take the 1, A, C or D train to Columbus Circle/59th Street.
